Which Lightweight cheap double pushchair Pushchair Should You Buy?

It's easy to move around in the lightweight double pushchair especially if you have kids of varying ages. They're typically simple to fold, steer and carry up and down the stairs.

This City Mini GT2 offers side-by-side seats with plenty of legroom with adjustable reclining, as well as massive UPF 50+ canopy with peekaboo windows. It also has frames that can be expanded in width to accommodate the second car seat or an additional passenger.

Side-by-Side

The majority of the light double single pushchair pushchairs we tested were side-by-side models. These are best for children who can stand up without assistance, as they tend to lack car seat compatibility. However they do have a few advantages. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both great options that provide adjustable recline in both seats, a wide canopy and padded 5-point harnesses. They're also easy to maneuver despite their larger footprints and are great for parents who worry about fitting into doorways.

The Cybex Duet is a little different due to its unique frame that expands in width to accommodate an additional seat, making it slimmer than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating available. This means it can fit through standard doorways and is easy to maneuver on public transportation. It also doubles as an jogger which is perfect when you are planning to use it with an infant car seat or a baby carrier.

Another great side-by-side, lightweight double is the UPPAbaby Vista v2 Double, which allows for even more flexibility and customization thanks to its modular frame. It features a clever design that allows you to transform it into a single buggy or a double by incorporating 2 carrycots or car seats (it can even accommodate twins). It's a great option for growing families and the UPPAbaby makes one of the lightest and stylish umbrella strollers available.

Try the egg2 that folds down to the size and weight of a small suitcase. It can be used as a single or double by adding two baby car seats or carrycots. Our home testers were amazed by the ease of maneuver even with a full load of kids.

Although they're lightweight double pushchairs side-by-side aren't foolproof. If your children are at the same age and stage, they may still fight about who gets to sit in which seat. If they are at different heights, the tandem model could be the best option for them, since it allows them to face eachother.

Tandem

While side-by-side models are best suited to siblings of similar age group, tandem light double strollers have distinct appeals. They can take a bigger car seat, and some come with reversible seats or an extra carrycot that is located in the middle. They are larger, and easier to get into and out of. However the baskets they use tend to be smaller than the ones found on single buggies. Many also feature more generously sized canopies with peekaboo windows as well as a parent cup holder and cushioned leg cushions for the young children.

The iCandy Peach tandem is another excellent example of a light tandem that provides great value. The fabrics are a little less luxurious than those of some of our top-rated doubles. However, it still looks stunning and is easy to use. Its one-handed folding is impressive. While it requires some practice, Kirstie from our Lab called it "genius". The carrycot cannot be folded while it is attached. However, the process to attach and remove the carrycot is quick and easy.

Tandem strollers that are lightweight typically have tighter turning capabilities than side-by-side models. However, they can be harder to drive on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also a little slower to speed up and are heavier to move, which could result in stress on your back.

Another option is a convertible double pram pushchair buggy which starts off as a single and then you can add adapters that turn it into a double. It can have a second seat or carrycot on the front, or the children can be seated side-by-side. Some have the option of adding a buggyboard, which assists an older child to keep up with siblings who are younger.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized stroller by purchasing additional cocoons at PS59 each. These cocoons provide an area that is flat for newborns. These can be placed side by side or attached to face each other and you can use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose a compatible one). Since they are made of high-quality materials, these buggies with dual-use capabilities can be used for years without showing much wear, indicating they have an excellent price resales.

Single-to-Double

Ideal for families who love to be outdoors and want to upgrade their single stroller, this lightweight double buggy can be converted into a jogger thanks to an innovative kit that includes air-filled tyres and all-wheel suspension. It can also withstand rough terrain well and is a tandem triple, is perfect for twins or children of different ages. It's also a good choice for parents who want an elegant design that's just as elegant as a single and is available in a range of colors for the fabric.

This iCandy model is very easy to fold with the use of a single hand. It's heavier than other single-to double pushchairs, but home tester Karolina says it's maneuverable even with two toddlers inside and the carrycot.

You can buy add-ons such as the Roma Gemini Carrycots (PS100) which are perfect for newborns. Our test panel found the seats were comfortable for toddlers and had good lumbar support and headrests. And there are a variety of options for reclining and recline, with the front seat being able to be adjusted to different positions and the rear seat having a recline option.

This kind of buggy has the greatest disadvantage of being larger than side-byside doubles. This makes it difficult to navigate through doorways and it can be difficult to get up and down kerbs. The suspension and wheels of these models tend to be able to deal with paved surfaces. They're also lighter than most side-by-sides and, therefore, you can have plenty of storage. It's worth bearing in mind that these strollers aren't as good at walking through the narrow aisles of supermarkets, and may struggle to cope with a lot of shopping. It's a little easier to turn them around on the smallest of curved paths however, even this can be a challenge. Some are also easier to turn than others, with the Thule Urban Glide 2 cheap double buggy and the Baby Trend sit and stand double stroller N' Stand Double, for example.

Convertible

The great thing about convertible double pushchairs is the ability to adapt to changing family needs. They typically start as single buggies, but include adapters to add the second seat, carrycot or (in certain instances) a car seat to the frame. Some can even convert back to a single buggie when your older child begins to walk more or prefers to ride on a buggy board.

This stylish tri-fold double stroller is one of the lightest on our list. It can carry up to 40 pounds per child and comes with an integrated storage basket between the seats. The home testers loved the spacious canopy with peekaboo windows with multi-position reclining seats as well as front and rear suspension for smoother rides on rough terrain. It also has a handy cup holder for the parent and a large, easy-to-access basket. However, they pointed out that the seats' backs have small pockets that aren't big enough to hold much more than a cell phone and keys.

This high-end, lightweight side-by-side is available in more than 20 models. It also includes a second chair and carrycot. Its impressive set of features includes an ergonomic handlebar with a high profile for better steering and a rear and front suspension to smooth rough terrain; a self-standing compact fold that has straps that make it easy to schlep and seven-inch swing lock front wheels and 10-inch back wheels with suspension for a smoother ride. The only downside is that you'll have to purchase a separate car seat or baby carrier.

This multi-functional tandem is the top choice of our home testers because it is easy to maneuver and comes with an enormous shopping basket that is accessible from both seats when they are in the parent-facing position. Its extremely light weight (about the same as a few single pushchairs double) makes it a breeze to move. Its reversible seats mean that they can be switched to face either way, and the clever way that it connects a second seat or riding board to the rear is appreciated by many. Parents also admired that it accommodates car seats and infant carriers from a variety of brands. This includes a few that aren't normally compatible with other double buggies.
