The Best Robot Hoover

Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and wash them if required. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums uk vacuums that we've test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
