This Week s Most Remarkable Stories About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This value is the total of all of its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item upgrader kit to be upgraded.
Item level is a popular measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.
Using the item level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when examining a vendor's inventory.
The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item upgrader kit, as well as its level. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory states that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl because the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification which are then increased by the player's skill.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item upgrading with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes could provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to keep on an item level upgrade after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for item level upgrade comparison would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game than in later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item, up to 140.
Moreover some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it fails.
The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an Upgrade Item failing can't exceed 100%.
The performance of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
