WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item upgrader kit level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item upgrade level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from a different set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's Best item upgrade to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
