WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item upgrading from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item level upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less even when they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrading upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
