It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum reviews we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
