Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile item level upgrade Upgrades
item upgrader mod upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of additional damage, more AD or even more attachments.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will absorb. The damage absorption of an item level upgrade of armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an Item Upgrade can be given, as illustrated below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The defensive boost gained typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance, an upgrade may improve the damage that is caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Some weapons also have special enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These are obtained through either doing side quests, or killing a certain number of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the best tier of benefits and blessings.
The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they most often use to make sure they are able to level up quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that you must attain certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in an equipment piece once.
It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades players can also acquire glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be freely swapped, but they're not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer a wide range of small but useful advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket that a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item upgrader has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.
Aside from the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating the boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
