The best robotic mop and vacuum robot vacuum cleaners best automatic hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled and large particles and clean them as required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots that vacuum and mop also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic vacuum and mop robot bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
