World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an Best item upgrade is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item upgrader Mod's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl because the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods which are then enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an Best item upgrade. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than later ones because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items are available in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

Note that item upgrades (read this blog post from Articlescad) are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
