10 Reasons That People Are Hateful Of Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrades owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the preview of an Item Level upgrade's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade items is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
