Armor, shields and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects.
