This Is The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item upgrading level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item upgrader mod level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade item for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
