9 Lessons Your Parents Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to increase the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it's able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a seller.
On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are several theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the item upgrader mod's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's skill.
Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by naming them.
Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item upgrade after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that causes damage by 5%. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases that chance by 5%.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
