The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot cleaner with mop vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other best robotic mop and vacuum vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top best robot hoover vacuums that we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
