Recycled items
Many of the items that we use every day such as paper, glass, aluminium and plastics, can be recycled. Some of these items can be reused into new products such as shoes and clothing, while others are reused for building materials like steel and concrete. This reduces the amount of waste we generate and also helps to reduce energy costs.
It is important to know what items can and cannot be recycled before putting them in your recycling bin. This will prevent contamination of your recyclables, making it difficult for recyclers to sort them. This will enable you to recycle more and make better decisions when it comes time to make new purchases.
Glass bottles, aluminum cans, and jars are also recyclable. Metals such as aluminum, tin and steel are also recycled, as are some metal objects. Plastics like ice cream containers and soda cans are recyclable, as well as some plastic bags. You can also recycle certain textiles, such as clothing and shoes, but they are not as common as the other items on this list.
Tin foil, window panes and wire hangers are all items that you should not place in your recycling bin. These are generally not accepted by recycling programs that are available at the curb, so they must be taken to an appropriate household hazardous waste collection facility or an event. It is also recommended not to recycle paint, construction materials or fertilizers and pesticides in their containers, as they can be dangerous to both the environment and the health of humans.
