Upgrades can boost the performance of a piece and, sometimes, even add extras. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the amount of random augmentations that are applied.

Reroll Tokens

The surviving players can acquire reroll tokens in several ways, including through the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be located in crates and chests or purchased at the local store at a cost of 150k each. Reroll tokens can be used to alter the attribute of a piece equipment such as increasing its damage.
Players can reroll equipment in three aspects: physical power, spell power, and health. Upgrades to physical power can increase the damage of melee and weapons attack while upgrades to spell power increase the damage of mage attacks and ring. Health upgrades give the player an additional level of health.
Three types of reroll tokens are available such as upgrade rare, legendary and rare. Each upgrade takes an item upgrader kit to a higher quality and requires a higher-level reroll token in order to create it. Enhanced upgrades require a common item, while rare upgrades require a special or legendary item upgrader mod and legendary upgrades require three legendary items.
As opposed to other tokens or markers that are placed on Action spaces, the reroll marker remains on the space until the next successful result is to be rerolled. This lets you avoid wasting upgrades.
Blueprints are envelopes that show up at the start of each preparation phase. They are opened using Interact by pressing on them. This will display a menu that shows the item's current status and what it will be after being upgraded and the required amount of Growth Stones to achieve this. The number of Growth Stones required to upgrade an item will depend on its rarity. Leveling

Upgrades can boost the Mark Level of an item or Rarity. Certain upgrade components have additional modifiers that can increase the item's stats.
For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" increases base defense, and provides an additional 20% chance of blocking. In addition the dps enhancement "Wildfire" increases weapon damage.
Certain items are better off being upgraded not so much for their improved stats and more for the fact that it allows players to gain the maximum amount of value from a flawless roll on the item. For instance, a perfectly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly valued in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50x the non-upp'd version.
When you choose an upgrade component that you want to put into an item the game will show an open window that displays the requirements required for that item. The game will display the required requirements when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
Once you've satisfied the conditions for upgrading, the game will place the item in your inventory, and the progress bar will update to show how close you are to completing it. You can also check the status of an upgrade by visiting any NPC who upgrades items.
