Upgrades can sometimes increase the performance of a piece of equipment and sometimes even its extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by the levels of gear, their requirements, and how many random augmentations are made available.
The most powerful racial Shield Razortail, for example, is often upgraded to increase its lightning absorption capability in PvP, and/or to add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more marketable than the non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens permit you to buy a new item upgrades, like an armor, weapon or ring. This allows you to swap the item for a different one similar one, with an additional set of bonuses. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective method to upgrade equipment. They don't keep the original item's level and any money wasted won't get compensated.
The survivors can get Reroll tokens in a variety of ways, including the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They can be located in crates and chests, or purchased from the market for 150k each. Reroll tokens are used to change the attribute of an item of equipment such as increasing the damage it can cause.
Players can reroll equipment in three categories: physical power, spell power, and health. Upgrades to physical power boost the damage of melee and weapons attack and spell power increase the damage of mage attacks and rings. Health upgrades provide the player with additional health.
There are three kinds of Reroll tokens: upgrade, rare, and legendary. Each of these upgrades the item to a better quality. To produce them, you'll need a higher level reroll token. Leveling

The process will use up the upgrade materials and give the item an upgrade level, giving the item a boost in that area. This process can be repeated until the highest level for an item is reached.
Items with upgraded stats will have a blue icon beside their slot. Upgrade components, unlike enchantments can't be applied to more than one item at once. Each upgrade component will require an amount of items as well as a certain equipment level.
The Upgrade Station is divided into two slots. On the left side, players can place an item to be upgraded. On the right side, an image of the gear will look like at its next level. When a player has enough materials by pressing the yellow arrow, it will begin the upgrade process.

Requirements
The upgrades to items allow players the ability to boost certain stats on weapons and armor they currently own. The requirements for upgrading an item will differ depending on the type of item, but you'll typically need Dilithium along with a number Upgrade Tokens.
The items can be upgraded by adding item upgrade components to weapons and equipment. These will provide additional effects or an increase in item upgrading level. The upgrades can be acquired from various sources in the game, including crafting, purchased from the Trading Post or karma vendors or looted from bosses and raids, or collected from dungeons. Once an upgrade component has been placed in an item it cannot be removed and replaced freely, however, the glyphs that are used in gathering tools can be swapped without restriction.
Upgrades to an item can increase its Mark Level and/or Rarity. Certain upgrade components have additional modifiers that can boost the stats of the item level upgrade.
The helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun", for example, increases base defense and gives an additional 20 percent chance of blocking. The DPS "Wildfire", on the other hand increases damage from weapons.
Certain items benefit from upgrading not so much for their improved stats, but more because it allows players to gain the maximum amount of value from a perfect roll on the item. A perfectly rolled 200/6500 armor set piece, for example is highly coveted by the melee PvP communities and can be worth up to 20-50 times the value of an unupp'd counterpart.
If you choose an upgrade component to be inserted into an item the game will show an in-game window that lists the requirements required for that item. These include the type of item upgrading (either Weapon or Armor) the tier of that item and the Upgrade Token required, as well as the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade.
Once you've satisfied the conditions for upgrading the game will put the item in your inventory and the progress bar will change to indicate how close to completing it. You can also verify the status of an upgrade by going to any item upgrader NPC.
