Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved after a reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Leveling

These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can become more expensive even if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.

However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base Best item upgrader.
