A Provocative Rant About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a vendor.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory says that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets add to the item level upgrade's overall value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.
The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.
Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats they want to keep on an Best item upgrader when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to upgrade item their gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..
The success of an can be affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
