The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the component or material needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph would make the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade item process differs from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.
This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes available is determined by the Best item upgrader's type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade requires the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers use a level in order to compare the height of the building against an established point, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important part of the game that can boost the strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the item upgrade menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in rare cases.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item upgrade. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are rolled into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item level upgrade, the higher chances of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also features several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They could be of various sizes, contain none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or organize information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.
There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to par with the levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. This will display the item's features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.
In general, weapons and armor have higher value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
