The "Hyperroll" that increases the chances of getting rare items, is one of these mechanics. Contrary to other PS4 games, Genshin Impact does not require a miHoYo account to play, but it does require the use of a PSN account and in-game save data. This is not practical to implement due to the complexity of the comparison process. There's not enough space in the UI to make it work.

A script that tests the requirements for upgrading an item prior to allowing the item upgrading to be upgraded is a different solution. This method is ideal for systems that have a relatively small number of upgradeable items and a few upgrade dependencies. A good example is a sword which can be upgraded from Sword +1 to Sword +2. A script could look for the Item Definition attribute of each upgrade, and set the Item Status to "upgraded" to show that the upgrade was valid.

This solution is more flexible than the two previous ones, but it requires additional code. It is less suitable for systems with complex requirements.

Another possible solution is to let players reforge their weapons and armor by applying certain improvements. These upgrades, referred to as reforges by some, increase the item's stats and decrease the cost of the item. These items aren't worth upgrading, and rare equipment will soon outclass them.

Ask your guild members to give their opinion when you aren't sure whether upgrading is worth the cost. It's possible to get better upgrades for less costs.
