The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrader in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item upgrade of armor, the player has to select it, and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of item names. For example, adding the suffix Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from the previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items, instead of spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it will be able to receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available depends on the item's base type. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes available for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.
Engineers may use a level in order to measure the height of the building to an established location, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with the highest level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an Best item upgrader's upgrade components. It is a vital aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original Best item upgrade or an similar item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you improve an item upgrade, the higher chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes number set that grants the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is a good way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.

This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own many armor or weapons already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
Generally speaking generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
