However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map.
