Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade item type it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The Luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by them.
