The Advanced Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of The button will display a preview of an item upgrading's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item level upgrade (find more) and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrader kit for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade items could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
