WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item level upgrade by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade items will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item Level Upgrade that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item upgrading is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
