Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaner that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map.
